LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENS

We can remove hair from anywhere on the body with our laser, and we can treat any skin tone. Whether you have dark skin or fair, we can adjust our laser to give you the most effective treatment for your complexion.

Benefits of laser hair removal:

1. Long-term solution

Once the hair follicles have been destroyed, they will not grow back. This means that you can say goodbye to unwanted hair for good and get lasting results.

2. Low maintenance

Laser hair removal is a wise investment for anyone who seeks a permanent solution for hair removal. Annual touch-ups are recommended, but that’s nothing compared to the time you would have spent shaving!

3. Minimal side effects

With advancements in laser treatments, they have become less painful and more effective, thus reducing the severity and number of side-effects. The most common side effect is follicular edema: redness at the follicle that lasts 24-48 hours.

4. Quick

Laser hair removal sessions are short. Small body areas (lip, underarms, bikini) only take 15 minutes! Even larger areas will only take up a small fraction of your day.

5. No more ingrown hair

Laser hair removal treatments eliminate ingrown hairs, minimizing the risk of inflammation, bumps, and itching.

6. Less painful

Laser hair removal is a less painful option compared to other methods of hair removal including waxing, tweezing and threading.

7. Safety

Thanks to new advances in laser hair removal technology, people with dark skin tones now enjoy the same level of safety as those with lighter complexions. And you can depend on no more razor cuts that can lead to unsightly scars.

8. Precise Treatment

The precision of laser hair removal makes it ideal for removing specific hairs, such as those in a particular area or on a small section of skin. We can treat between your eyebrows or even shape your beard.

9. Promotes beautiful skin

In addition to reducing hair, laser treatments can reduce the frequency and severity of acne breakouts. It can also prevent the dark marks that are secondary to skin irritation and help improve tone and texture.

10. Convenient

Laser hair removal saves so much time that is otherwise spent on grooming.

How to prepare before hair removal

You are going to need your follicle roots intact for the laser to do its job, so avoid waxing, tweezing, threading, or anything else that removes hair at the root before your appointment. Then shave the areas one to two days prior to the treatment, but not the day of the treatment. Also, consider the beach off-limits. Two weeks before your appointment, avoid the sun, especially if you are getting hair lasered on sun-exposed areas like your face, neck, chest, back, arms, and legs. No matter your natural skin tone, it'll put you at risk for side effects.

What to Expect During a Laser Hair Removal Session?

During the procedure, you will be given protective eye wear and the laser equipment settings will be adjusted for each patient. A cold gel or a cooling device may also be applied to protect outer skin areas during treatment.

During the laser treatment, pulses of light will be delivered in the area being treated and you may feel slight discomfort. This has been described as feeling like a warm pinprick or having a rubber band snapped against your skin. The first treatment tends to cause more discomfort than subsequent treatments.

The procedure itself varies in length depending on the area being treated, but can last anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour or longer. Once it’s over you may be given lotions, anti-inflammatory creams, or ice packs for relief of any lingering pain.

How long does laser hair removal last?

If we are being technical, laser hair removal is something of a misnomer. It's more like laser hair reduction. That's because you have two types of hair: vellus hairs, which are fine baby hairs, and terminal hairs, which are more coarse. “The vellus baby hairs get affected by hormones and convert to terminal hairs throughout your life,” she says.

So you may do laser hair removal at 18, but by 30, you might have new growth coming in. It's just nature doing its thing. Once a hair follicle root is dead, it's dead forever.

Post Care after your session

  • Redness & Bumps are normal.

Immediately after your treatment, redness & bumps at the treatment area are common; these may last up to 2 hours or longer. It is normal for the treated area to feel like a sunburn for a few hours. You should use a cold compress if the sensitivity continues. If there is any crusting, apply an antibiotic cream. Darker pigmented skin may have more discomfort than lighter skin & may persist longer.

  • Cleanse the area treated gently.

The treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. Skin should be patted dry & not rubbed during the first 48 hours.

  • No makeup & lotion/moisturizer/deodorant for the first 24 hours.

Keep the treated area clean & dry, if further redness or irritation persists, skip your makeup & moisturizer, & deodorant (for underarms) until the irritation has subsided.

  • Dead hairs will begin to shed 5-30 days after your treatment.

Stubble, representing dead hair being shed from the hair follicle, will appear within 5-30 days from the treatment date. that is normal & they will fall out quickly.

  • Exfoliate to speed up hair shedding.

Anywhere from 5-30 days after the treatment, shedding of the hair may occur & this may appear as new hair growth. It is not new hair growth, but the dead hair pushing its way out of the follicle. You can help the hair come out by washing with a washcloth or a Shobha® Exfoliating Cloth (sold at LH) & shaving.

  • Avoid the sun.

Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of dark or light spots for 2 months. Use sunscreen (spf 25 or higher) at all times throughout the treatment period & for 1-2 months following.

  • Do not pick/scratch/wax/thread/tweeze the area.

Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. do not use any other hair removal methods or products, other than shaving, on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments, as it will prevent you from achieving the best results.

  • Hair growth varies.

On average, most will experience a level of hairless happiness after 6-9 sessions which will result in not even checking for stubble (yes, it’s life changing!).
